Samsung’s first foldable display smartphone has only been on the market for a few months now, but rumors are picking up regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 already. Multiple leaks suggest that the second-generation foldable smartphone from Samsung will look more like the Motorola Razr than the original Galaxy Fold.
The latest rumor suggests that Samsung may be ready to deploy its foldable “Samsung Ultra Thin Glass” to protect the flexible display of the phone. This latest leak comes from @UniverseIce. While Samsung’s trademarked flexible glass was not mentioned by name, he does state that Samsung will use “an ultra-thin glass cover for the first time in the world, replacing plastic materials.”

The move from plastic to glass is an important step in the right direction for foldable display smartphones as first-generation products have proven to be extremely fragile. The original launch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold was purchased back nearly half a year so that Samsung could improve its design ad Huawei has yet to launch the Mate X which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress back in February.
While we have no reason not to believe the latest rumor, we suggest taking this news with a grain of salt. There is still a lot we don’t know about the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2, but the details that have been revealed so far suggest that Samsung is working hard to make folding smartphones more durable and a lot cheaper for the masses.
