Samsung is beta testing a Galaxy Home Mini speaker, but the Galaxy Home is still MIA

Samsung smartphone users in South Korea are being given the opportunity to beta test a new Samsung Galaxy Home Mini smart speaker. As the name implies, the device would be a smaller version of the Galaxy Home which was unveiled more than a year ago at this point. Unfortunately, the speakers still has not made its retail debut and there’s no word from Samsung as to when the Bixby-powered speaker will be hitting the market.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Home Mini, the beta test application is open through September 1st. Samsung is looking for a number of users who would be able to put the speaker through its paces and provide feedback on the experience. The design of the speaker features a woven material on the sides and top with capacitive controls on the top along with the AKG logo.

It’s not clear what Samsung’s plans are at this point or when the Galaxy Home Mini will hit store shelves. In an ideal world, a device like this would show up right before the holiday shopping season, but if things progress as quickly as they have with the regular Galaxy Home, it could be a year before the Galaxy Home Mini is widely available.
