Android Oreo was released at the end of August, but not many devices beyond Google’s own Nexus and Pixel devices have received the update. Motorola has given us a peek at which Motorola phones will get the Android Oreo update but they provided no time frame for those updates. Nokia has been the first manufacturer to release security updates for its phones for a few months now and it looks like they’re aiming to make new version updates just as speedy.
Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas of HMD Global has tweeted out a picture of the Nokia 8 receiving the Android Oreo update. Sarvikas says the company is working on the update and will release it when it’s perfect.
That’s the sort of dedication to speedy updates that we’d like to see from the likes of Samsung, LG, and Motorola. Good on HMD Global and Nokia for making sure Nokia 8 users get to experience Android Oreo as quickly as possible. There are some rumors that the Nokia 8 will eventually make its way to the United States, so if you’ve been holding out for the return of Nokia this seems like a good thing.
