Last year, Google introduced its new Android Beta Program for Android Nougat. This was a way to get Android N onto various devices ahead of the official launch while giving Google the means to check for bugs that were still prevalent. The program continued even after the official launch of Nougat and it seems that program will be coming to an end.
However, the reason for the beta program coming to an end is so that Google can prepare to launch the first Android O Beta. Android O has already been in the hands of developers and enthusiasts alike, but this new beta program will be a ‘public’ version.
The Android Beta Program’s landing page has not been updated with a specific date for the launch of the Android O public beta program, but we are expecting it to be soon. However, we could be waiting for another week and a half or so, as Google I/O 2017 is scheduled to get underway on May 17th.
It would not surprise us if Google opened the floodgates during its Keynote event, where the company details everything that has been in the works for the last year. If you want to make sure that you’ll be ready to go once Google drops the ball, then bookmark the link below.
