OnePlus is halting sales of the OnePlus 3 in the US and Europe

0

Leading up to yesterday’s announcement of the OnePlus 3T, there were questions of whether OnePlus would be keeping around both of its latest devices. Unfortunately, it seems that won’t be the case as OnePlus has confirmed to Android Authority that the OnePlus 3 will no longer be available in the United States or Europe.

The OnePlus 3T will be available starting on November 22nd and features most of the same specs as its predecessor. The upgrades for the new device include the new Snapdragon 821 processor, a higher megapixel selfie camera (16MP), a larger battery (3,400mAh), and a new storage option (128GB).

OnePlus is offering the OnePlus 3T for $439 for the base 64GB variant and $479 for the 128GB version. Once the device goes on sale, you will be able to purchase the Gun Metal color option, with the Soft Gold option coming at a later date. Additionally, OnePlus has confirmed that the OxygenOS update based on Android Nougat will be arriving on the OnePlus 3T before the end of the year.

It seems a bit strange to completely remove the OnePlus 3 from the lineup as the device was only released a few months ago. On the other hand, at least there’s no need to worry about which device to purchase, unless you’ll be reaching for a used model. Let us know what you think OnePlus could have done to capitalize on the release of the OnePlus 3T.
