Samsung is offering a replacement for your faulty Galaxy Note 7

Today has been more than eventful for Samsung and owners of the Galaxy Note 7. The South Korean giant has issued a formal global recall of the latest Note device due to concerns over the battery used within the device.

In its official statement, Samsung claims there have been “35 cases that have been reported globally” in regards to the battery on the Galaxy Note 7 overheating and exploding. With sales of over 2.5 million since its launch, this may not seem like a lot, but if there is a known issue the number could grow and cause even more of an issue than it has already become.

For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.

Samsung has already reached out to carriers across 10 countries, asking to halt sales of the device. Each carrier is offering either a loaner device until the issue is fixed or offering a full refund for the Note 7. Samsung itself is offering to replace the Galaxy Note 7 for free with a new one.

Although Samsung is claiming to offer a replacement over the “coming weeks” that’s not much of a substantial timetable to base off of. We’ll continue keeping our eyes peeled and ears to the ground to see if there are any updates in regards to this debacle.
