Following yesterday’s unveiling of the OnePlus 3, the company’s CEO made the announcement that OnePlus will no longer be making new X series phones. Pete Lau stated that OnePlus would only focus on “true flagship” devices rather than wasting time fighting a low-end price war with other smartphone manufacturers.
The OnePlus X wasn’t nearly as successful as last year’s OnePlus 2, but the company did manage to deliver an exception mid-range smartphone which was priced significantly lower than its competitors. With the OnePlus hardware and software teams focused purely on developing and supporting the company’s flagship devices, we should see faster released for major Android updates and a lot more refinement in the hardware and software going forward.
Do you think cutting the OnePlus X from its lineup is a good decision?
