Rumors are swirling regarding HTC’s supposed turn in line to produce Google’s next devices in the Nexus project. Obviously nothing has been confirmed, but the leaks have stated that HTC is working on two Nexus devices code-named Marlin and Starfish.
A surprising little device made its way onto Geekbench’s database, and is aptly named “google Nexus 6P.” Of course, your first thought would be that someone’s messing around somewhere, but when diving into the nitty gritty, you find some interesting information.
The version found on Geekbench is running Android N, and features a Snapdragon 820 processor compared to the Snapdragon 810 that is found in Huawei’s Nexus 6P. Also found in this benchmark is 4GB of RAM whereas last year’s Nexus 6P only features 3GB.
This finding does not confirm anything in regards to a new Nexus device, but it’s entirely possible that this is Google’s next Nexus and could be unveiled at I/O 2016, just a few weeks from now. It’s also possible that Google and Huawei are working on a mid-cycle release of the device.
Only time will tell what Google is working on in the background, and if this device is the real deal. In the meantime, drop us a line and let us know how you’re Nexus 6P or 5X is holding up since the release last fall.
