Galaxy S7 Edge software update

If you have a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge on T-Mobile, a new software update should be waiting for you. Weighing in at around 215MB for the regular S7 and 147MB for the S7 Edge, Samsung says the update looks to bring video, battery, and performance improvements. Not mentioned, but also in the update are Android’s April security patches, which makes for a nice bonus. Here’s the changelog according to Samsung:

What’s new

  • The stability of Recording video has been improved.
  • Overall device performance has been improved.
  • Battery life has been optimized.
  • The security of your device has been improved.
  • A software update can include, but is not limited to:
  • Device stability improvements, bug fixes.
  • New and / or enhanced features.
  • Further improvements to performance.

Software updates like these aren’t magic and while we’re not expecting any miracles, we’re hoping it fixes the terrible battery life we received on our regular S7, while improving that weird skipping slow-mo video users have been seeing on US variants of the phone. We’ve yet to test it, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Update: Slow-mo video is still skipping. Ugh.
