So, this sucks. Microsoft is killing one of the best calendar apps available for Android.
Sunrise Calendar has been around on Android since 2014. In February, Microsoft acquired the app and the team behind it, but didn’t really change anything. The app still received consistent updates, and even a few cool new features. It has been my calendar app of choice for a long time, but now it’s being killed.
Microsoft has announced that Sunrise will be merged with the Outlook apps for Android and iOS. The Sunrise team announced that they won’t be updating the standalone apps anymore. All of their effort will be put into the Outlook apps. It’s worth noting that the Outlook apps are actually really nice, and soon they will get a Material Design facelift. But an email app isn’t a calendar app. RIP.
