Floppy disks are ancient technology at this point. Seeing a photo of one immediately brings to mind the bad Apple commercials of the 1980s and Steve Jobs’ awkward haircuts.
Those were dark times in technology, though we obviously didn’t know it back then. But if for whatever reason you haven’t moved on to more flexible, reliable and convenient methods for storage — such as external hard drives, USB drives, memory sticks or even CDs — there’s a cool product for you to use with your Android device.
This guy demonstrates the use of a USB-connected external floppy disk drive with an ASUS tablet, and it’s likely a USB OTG cable that makes it all happen. The tablet easily recognizes the drive, and he uses the built-in ASUS file manager to manipulate the files with ease. It’s painfully slow, of course, but it works.
If you’re somehow in need for one of these they’re readily available in Amazon for very affordable prices (USB OTG cables are right here), so be sure to check it out if you want something that could work with your Android tablet or phone.
