HTC won’t let Motorola have all the fun when it comes to introducing super affordable smartphones with respectable specs. The company today announced the HTC Desire 620, a 5-inch 720p smartphone sporting a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front camera, and 8GB of internal storage. Said storage can be topped up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The on sore spot in all that is that it’ll ship with Android 4.4 KitKat and HTC Sense 6.0, though we imagine an upgrade to Lollipop could be in the cards once HTC’s gotten it onto the market. As for when and where that particular event will happen the only thing HTC had to share was Q1 2015 in the UK, though we expect much of Europe and other developing markets to see the handset. Expect a low price, naturally, but there’s no current word on what that’ll be.
Am I wrong for expecting every device that gets announced after November to have lollipop on it?
Perhaps not wrong, but, this device was likely developed long before 5.0 was available.
Gotta pull the trigger on release at the most advantageous time for maximum sales.
If HTC waited for Lollipop to be ready for daily use on this device,it’d be eclipsed by something else from a competitor, further pushing back release.
The on sore spot???
Proofreading by “professional” journalists is an after thought in today’s context. Still, spell check is your friend. aNd I,m n0 gramma natzi lol
can someone explain why HTC is doing this? how is this ANY differnt than Desire 610? unless its using a SD 401 (64 bit) its literally the exact same phone, no? PSA TO ALL OEMs: 2015 IS THE YEAR OF SHRINKING YOUR PRODUCT LINES
First, the camera has a flash. And hopefully it has a better camera…like one that isn’t fixed focus like the 610. Those 2 things are pretty big deals to a lot of people, as a matter of fact I recommended the moto g to a friend over the desire 610 solely because of the horrible camera and lack of flash on the 610 compared to the moto G.
The desire 610 had a 4.7 inch qhd 960×540 display this has a 5 inch 720p display that alone is a huge difference.
Another decent looking (cosmetically) device that’s ruined by that weird HTC double bezel logo bar.
They’re needlessly making their phones taller. They already have their logo on the back so there’s no need to put one on the front.
Everything looks solid except the soc a 1.3ghz quad core chip sounds like it’s a mediatek.
its never going to be updated
