We had a feeling that, similar to last year’s flagship, the upcoming HTC M8 (One 2, One Plus) would 1. see a release on all major US carriers, and 2. launch with in a “Mini” variant. Those predictions have been confirmed today from a variety of sources, the first coming from our friend at @evleaks, who tweeted off some initial specs that will likely accompany the HTC M8 Mini. Here are the quick specs:
HTC M8 Mini (mem_ul)
- 4.5-inch 720p display
- 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400
- 1GB RAM/16GB storage (with microSD slot)
- 13MP rear/5MP front facing cameras
- WiFi a/b/g/n/ac
- BT4.0
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Sense 6.0
- On-screen buttons
Nothing too groundbreaking, but the device’s alleged 13MP rear and 5MP front facing cameras might offer an incentive for those considering smaller devices like the iPhone 5s (high-resolution selfies, anyone?).
HTC M8
On to the HTC M8, the device looks to have made an appearance at the Bluetooth SIG under the model number “0P6BXXX, HTC6525LVW.” It was back towards the end of January that, once again, @evleaks tweeted some model numbers for both the M8 (0P6B) and M8 Mini (0P8B), corresponding with the Bluetooth filing.
If there was ever any doubt the M8 would launch on multiple US carriers, the software build specifically calls out Verizon Wireless (0.60.605.1), AT&T (0.60.502.1) and T-Mobile (0.62.531.1). No word on Sprint, although we suppose there’s plenty of time for that version to hit the SIG in the near future.
Cheers, Harley!
Not bad… A snapdragon 600 and 2GB of Ram would be better
honestly the sd400 is fine, but the 1 GB of ram is going to be a bottleneck.
wtf HTC hasn’t learned from the competition. gimped cpu and ram again. this is not a good start to “focusing on mid end segment” by HTC.
I just don’t think they can fit much more hardware in the mini phones. The Droid mini was able to keep the same specs as its bigger brothers, other than the 32 gb of memory, but I believe that was only because the Droid phones hardware wasn’t that cutting edge to begin with.
it’s not just the droid mini. look at the 4.3″ sony xperia z1 compact. no sacrifices were made on the processor and ram and camera.
Thats true, the Sony Mini is a powerhouse, however its huge compared to the Droid Mini. Sure its a mini version of the z1, but its not what I’d consider a small phone.
That mini better pack a mini price.
If the One Mini is around $300 no contract then it’s a decent deal.
300? I’d be happy with 600. What did you think this is? nexus 5 mini?
Actually, I wouldn’t say no to nexus 5 mini and save 300 bucks either…but we both know nexus 5 mini will never happen.
$300!? It’s spec like the moto G and the G is only $200…
I say the M8 mini better be priced about $250.
The moto G has no LTE and only have a 5 mp back and 2.1 front and no SD so yup Moto G
I certainly hope it’s going to be released for Sprint. My contract is up for renewal very soon, and I’m actually quite happy with Sprint lately, but no M8 will be a dealbreaker for me when it’s time to decide…
This Mini M8 better priced about $200~$250 unlocked… that’s the spec for a freaking moto G lol!
Beside the better camera, and LTE and bigger size, yup the moto G
My Uncle James recently got a new black Mazda
MAZDASPEED3 Hatchback by working at home online. you can try here Big41.ℂom
Why would anyone want this? Manufacturers need to start making mini phones the same specs as the big phones. There is no reason for not doing otherwise.
