I’m a sicko. I find myself getting enjoyment out of watching certain things get the crap beat out of them. To see them battered and bruised to no end, and with no remorse, is somehow satisfying. I’m talking about devices, of course. I always drool at the chance to see the stress testing process of a product, whether it be something as small as a USB cable or as expensive as a smartphone.
That’s why Samsung Tomorrow’s latest video on YouTube caught my interest. They take us deep within the process of stress testing the Galaxy S4, a necessary part of any smartphone’s (or any product period) development cycle. This is where companies figure out whether or not their devices meet their quality standards, and push the smartphones to the boundaries of pain to see how much of a beating they can take from “regular” use.
Samsung performs many tests, such as water damage, drop tests, tumbler tests, and the infamous force impact test. All of this and more can be found in the video above, though be warned that the commentary is in Korean. No worries — we’re only here for the visuals, anyway. Im sure One goes through similar testings too. Might not be as indepth due to the amount of R&D fund differences but stil.
If they’re doing this to the s4.. I wonder how they’re treating the active lol.

Yes I am pretty sure S4 water sink test will leave bunch of dead S4 overtime. It’s just not dead right at the spot.

Pretty cool especially when it is a highlight film of the ones that survived. I would love the see the other dozens of phones that did not survive.
It is interesting how unlucky it seems folks have to be to crack a screen. When my friends S3 was dead after a dip in the ocean, we decided to do a drop test and basically destroy the phone to see how durable it was. It took 11 drops to break the dang screen. 4 of those drops were from 6ft up.
Funny thing is when he recently upgraded to the S4, he dropped it one time getting out of the car and the screen shattered. Luckily he had some insurance, but we always joke that the phone gods cursed him for torturing his old S3.
You see, now this is what’s called a scientific drop test. Hundreds of repeated tests, with a constant.
