Temple Run 2 has surpassed Angry Birds Space to become the fasting growing mobile game by accruing over 50 million downloads in a mere 13 days since its release. The number takes into account downloads across the Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore and Apple App Store.
Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi, said, “the game has performed beyond our wildest dreams,” noting that, “Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us.” The first installment in the series has been downloaded over 170 million times. At the current rate, there is no telling how much bigger the franchise could become.
Temple Run and Temple Run 2 are both available now from the Google Play Store.

All three are good games and the developer should be proud of them
I really don’t get the appeal of games like this. I guess Far Cry 3, X-Com, SSX, Gran Turismo, Mass Effect, Civilization, Uncharted, Gears of War, and Portal 2 are too much for gamers these days?
People probably don’t want to play a lot of serious games on their cell phones. Just something to keep you busy at times.
None of those games can be played on a phone lol. Temple Run is a great time waster nothing more.
It’s a fun game and playable in short sessions. For the games you mentioned people have to set apart quite some time. Temple run 2 is for when you have a little bit of spare time (waiting on someone, bored in public transit, etc.)
I play those games to past the time, referring to mobile games. I can’t play SSX when I’m gone somewhere. LoL!! Mobile gaming is a completely different market and isn’t competing with the consoles. Or at least I don’t think so.
Every run is different, challenging, endless and it becomes a sort of social competition. Plus you can play it on the toilet.
It’s called CASUAL GAMING for a reason
Temple run is WHACK. Angry Birds is Legendary. Carry on.
I actually love infinite runners. Forget all these games Extreme Road Trip 2. =.D
I’ve downloaded the game and never opened it. LoL!!
this is an unfair comparison. Angry Birds Space is $1 on the iOS app store while Temple Run 2 is free on both platforms. It’s only natural that a free up would out sell a paid alternative.
You know it’s a hit when tons of me-too copycat games pop up. And some of ’em are even in the top 100 list, like “Subway runners”
This is TOTALLY due to a neigh simultaneous release on both platforms… All other game studios take note, and quit leaving Android out of the loop, or releasing a sorry port three years later. Cough, cough Epic Citadel, cough.
