Samsung SGH-i317 shows up in GL Benchmark with HD display

12

We’ve just been tipped to a new listing in GLBenchmark for one Samsung SGH-I317, a device that apparently sports an HD display. The model number indicates AT&T or Canadian affiliation, but it’s tough to say what, exactly, it is.

We’re not sure if Samsung is planning to bring another HD device to Ma Bell’s shelves. They’re a decent candidate for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, but the model number doesn’t suggest this is a sequel to the original device — the SGH-I717.

It also doesn’t suggest that this is a variant for the S3, but anything is possible. The listing also shows it’s running Jelly Bean, and Samsung is confirmed to be bringing newer devices with Jelly Bean out of the box starting with the Samsung Galaxy S3 4G headed for Australia later this month.

Without any recent rumors it’s tough to say what this device could be, but we’ll be digging for more information to see what we can find. In the meantime let us know what you think this might turn out to be. [thanks Fayez!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. A Samsung number of 317 gives me flashbacks to the old Sammy flip phones.

    Ah, no wonder: http://www.mobiledia.com/phones/samsung/sgh-e317.html

    1. The Nextus?

      1. The signs are all there, htc is set tO announce something te 19th and now a mystery Samsung phone, I say the next nexi are coming

    2. Note 2 most likely.

GLbenchmark shows Mali400 GPU — so it’s a exynos quad core. It’s clocked at 1.6GHz. Display is 720p. Only phone that matches this description is Note 2.

Samsung is shipping LTE phones with Exynos 4412 in Germany and other countries in EU. Also in Australia and Korea. So, I think they are now confident to ditch Qualcomm for LTE connectivity in US.

  3. Probably the Samsung Moment

  4. It could be the GS3 mini you were talking about the other day.

    1. that would be nice.

  5. Not to be nit picky, but aren’t Verizon and AT&T wireless both “Ma Bell”?

  6. might be a S3 with “quad core s4 pro” at heart…..:) lets keep dreaming…

  7. Uses a 1.6 GHz Exynos 4 Quad. I say it’s the Note II.

    1. Definately for AT&T as thats in the build number and it says LTE in the build number. I think it has to be the Note 2.
