Infinix Note 50s brings scent tech to smartphones

0

The Infinix Note 50s scent feature is about to freshen up the smartphone game. According to a report from Digit, Infinix has confirmed that its upcoming Note 50s 5G+ will come with built-in scent technology, making it the first phone to smell as good as it looks. Yep, you read that right.

Set to launch on April 18 in India, the Note 50s will release a subtle fragrance from its rear panel. The tech is called Energizing Scent-Tech, and it works by using microencapsulation — basically, fragrance molecules trapped in tiny capsules and infused into the vegan leather back of the Marine Drift Blue variant.

According to Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor, this is all about adding a new layer to smartphone design. “If we have something that smells good in our hand then why not!”

The fragrance is designed to last around six months, though factors like climate and usage could shorten that a bit. Also, the scent isn’t refillable, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Infinix is keeping the final price under wraps until launch day, but expect the Note 50s 5G+ to come in under Rs 20,000. Only the Marine Drift Blue model will carry this scent tech, while the other color options skip the fragrance feature.

Either way, this is definitely one of the most unexpected smartphone “upgrades” we’ve seen in a while.
