Samsung might separate the Galaxy S Pen from future Ultra phones

0

The future of the Galaxy S Pen might be heading for a big change. Samsung is reportedly thinking about separating the S Pen from its Ultra phones, starting with the Galaxy S27 series.

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

Right now, the Galaxy S Ultra phones come with a built-in slot for the S Pen, keeping the stylus close at hand. But according to tipster PandaFlashPro, Samsung could ditch the slot from 2027 onward. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is still safe, but beyond that, the S Pen might go back to being an optional add-on, just like it was with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

It wouldn’t be a total surprise. Samsung has already made a few quiet moves in this direction. The S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra lost features like Bluetooth Air Actions and the remote camera shutter. And over on the foldable side, the Galaxy Z Fold SE ditched S Pen support entirely.

That said, Samsung insists the S Pen isn’t going anywhere. Just last month, a company rep said, “I don’t see a space where the S Pen is not a key part of our portfolio.” So, no full farewell. If anything, it looks like Samsung’s aiming for a middle ground. It wants to keep compatibility but let users choose if they want to buy the stylus separately.

For longtime S Pen fans, it’s not the news they were hoping for. But at least the Galaxy S Pen future isn’t dead, it’s just potentially a bit more optional.
