Things haven’t been going smoothly for Sonos – a veteran brand in the consumer tech industry, the company has been going through a rocky patch, a lot of which is attributed to the troubled launch of its app, which itself was riddled with countless problems.
Following this, the company recently announced that CEO Patrick Spence will be stepping down from his post after eight years, and will be replaced by Tom Conrad as Interim CEO, effective today. Conrad is a co-founder of Pandora and a member of Sonos’ board, and has served in executive positions with other tech brands.

The launch of the newer Sonos app was accompanied by several complaints from users regarding overall stability and usability, ranging from connection issues, missing features, and a number of other bugs. The company also laid off up to a hundred people from its workforce, adding to its woes.
While some users have suggested that Sonos bring its older app back, Spence responded saying that re-releasing the older version of the app “would make the problems worse, not better.”
All that said, it would certainly be interesting to see how Sonos handles things moving forward.
