Similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S series of flagship phones, the company’s foldables are also powered using the same Qualcomm chipset. That could change in 2025, where a report from Chosun Biz claims that for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung could be opting to use the Exynos 2500.
The report also claims that the rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE model could also be a contender to use the Exynos chipset. This means that the larger Galaxy Z Fold 7 could continue using a Qualcomm chipset. This would presumably be the Snapdragon 8 Elite which is also expected to debut in the Galaxy S25 series.
If that’s the case, we imagine that customers might not be too happy. That is unless the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will use Exynos in all regions, and not some regions. It is possible that the use of Samsung’s own in-house chipset could make things slightly more affordable. In turn they could potentially lower the price of the handset, making it more attractive.
A recent rumor also claims that Samsung could “significantly” equip the Galaxy S26 series with an Exynos chipset. Whether or not this means they will be exclusively powered by an Exynos chipset remains to be seen. Either way, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 phones are only expected in the later part of 2025, so there’s still a long ways to go.
