They often say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, although were not sure if that’s the case this time around – new online leaks claim that Apple is working on a significant design change to the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro’s design, and we do mean significant.
A post on Chinese social media website Weibo features a photo which supposedly resembles the frame that Apple will be using for the iPhone 17 Pro, which is expected to arrive sometime in September next year. Based on the design in the photo, the 17 Pro’s frame will feature a horizontal camera layout similar to the Pixel 9 series, and even the Nexus 6P from many years ago.
Additionally, leaker Digital Chat Station also shared a render based on the current (and supposed) design details so far, featuring a horizontal camera layout as well with separate camera bumps. He adds that other Android OEMs are expected to follow this design trend. By contrast, Google is supposedly removing the iconic camera bar on the upcoming Pixel 9a.
In any case, none of these are obviously – and officially – confirmed, although we’re bound to know more details in the coming months.
