Apple’s iPhone 18 is going to be even MORE expensive!

Apple’s iPhones aren’t cheap. There’s really no two ways about it. However, come 2026, the iPhone 18 could be Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date. This is according to a report from Taiwanese publication, Ctee.

The report claims that Apple is expected to introduce a brand new chipset in the iPhone 18. This chipset is said to be built using TSMC’s 2nm process, but apparently the decision to use this process could cost Apple quite a bit. The report suggests that it could see a $35 increase in cost per chipset.

This means that instead of $50 per chip, which is what Apple is reportedly paying now, it could jump to a whopping $85! Now, whether or not Apple will absorb these costs remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if the company hikes the price of the iPhone 18 in order to maintain their profit margins.

There are obvious benefits to Apple using a 2nm chipset. Chips built on a smaller process are more efficient and powerful, which in turn would allow Apple to accomplish more. However, since it is considered cutting-edge technology, this decision will come with a cost. Either way, 2026 is still a long ways to go so we’ll have to wait and see how this rumor pans out.
