The Pixel Tablet 2, not the Pixel Tablet 3, might have been canceled

According to a recent report, it was suggested that Google might have canceled their plans for the Pixel Tablet 3. It turns out that might not be the case, but it’s not all good news either because now it has been suggested that the Pixel Tablet 2 might actually be the device in question that was canceled.

This is according to a new report from Android Authority who heard from their source that the Pixel Tablet 2 is the device that is canceled. The original report from Android Headlines quoted a device codenamed “kiyomi”, which was initially thought to be the Pixel Tablet 3. The new report, however, claims that “kiyomi” could actually be referring to the Pixel Tablet 2.

Android Authority notes that while they cannot definitively tie “kiyomi” to the Pixel Tablet 2, there are several details that suggest that it could be that device. Their source also indicated that the reason behind the cancelation is due to Google’s concern that they might lose money on it.

Basically what this means is that Google’s tablet endeavors could be coming to an end earlier than we thought. We had previously wondered why Google was continuing to pursue the Pixel Tablet 2 if they wanted to cancel the Pixel Tablet 3.

It is unclear if the Pixel Tablet 3 could still be in the cards for the company. It is possible that maybe Google could still build the Pixel Tablet 3 and make it a bigger and more compelling upgrade, but we’ll have to wait and see.
