One of the annoying things about buying a new phone is the setup process. While you can easily transfer data from your old Android phone to your new one, some apps may require you to sign in again. This can be troublesome, but the good news is that Google is making the process of setting up a new Android phone a lot easier.
The company has announced a new feature called Restore Credentials. The name of the feature is pretty much a giveaway. This means that moving forwards, developers can take advantage of this new feature so that their apps can onboard users to the new device, along with their login credentials.
This means that when users transfer their apps over from their old phone to their new one, they won’t have to spend their time logging into apps and trying to remember their passwords. This can be annoying because if you’ve stayed logged into an app for 2-3 years, chances are you might have forgotten the password when you have to login again.
Google says that this feature could prevent users from being frustrated, which could lead to them abandoning the app. Alternatively, users can always use the Google Password Manager to help them remember their logins, but obviously this new feature would make it a lot easier.
