It’s that time of the year again – no, we’re not talking about Black Friday – Google recently announced its picks for Google Play’s Best of 2024, highlighting some of the apps and games that made quite a splash this year at the Google Play Store. Part of Google’s announcement reads:
In 2024, we made Google Play more than just a store. We’ve been improving discoverability, expanding gaming options, boosting rewards and ensuring timely content delivery — all to better support the developers who power the platform. We look forward to seeing how developers and publishers continue to help people discover new apps, games and books — wherever they are, on whatever device.
First up is “Partiful” – an app designed for event planning and management, Partiful’s design and invite creation feature, as well as its “Party Genie” feature proved innovated enough to bag the Best App award.
For Best Game, Google awarded “AFK Journey” the top spot thanks to its large roster of characters, tactical battle system, a large in-game world as well as its unique art style.
For the multi-device app category, Google picked Max – the app allows users to pick up where they left off regardless of device. This means that you can continue tuning into your movie or show from your TV, tablet, phone, and more.
Finally, Google’s pick for best multi-device game goes to Clash of Clans. Developer Super Cell is no stranger to the industry, having introduced Clash of Clans (or CoC as the kids call it) to mobile players many years ago. The app’s recent expansion to PCs and Chromebooks, as well as better optimization for foldables and tablets allowed it to take the medal in this category.
