Could We See New Samsung AR Hardware Soon?

While Samsung has been known to dabble in AR hardware before, it’s been quite some time now since we saw a fully-dedicated AR product from the South Korean tech giant. That might all change soon though, at least based on new reports online.

More specifically, it’s now predicted that Samsung will start selling its upcoming AR smart glasses by Q3 2025. The device will also have a limited initial production run, and will be available only in select markets. It can be remembered that Samsung teased a dedicated XR device back in 2023, which will be developed alongside Qualcomm and Google.

At the moment, Samsung hasn’t confirmed the existence of the device, although Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon earlier on hinted that Qualcomm will be providing a chipset for an upcoming Samsung-made mixed-reality product.

As for hardware, it’s expected that Samsung’s smart glasses will use Qualcomm’s AR1 semiconductor as the main processing unit, accompanied by an NXP semiconductor as the auxiliary processing unit; the device will also feature a 12MP camera with a Sony IMX681 CMOS sensor. Other specs include gesture commands, AI features, as well as integration with Google Gemini.

Finally, there’s word that Samsung might tease the glasses during CES 2025, or during its Galaxy S25 Unpacked event.
