iPhone Users can Now Use the Gemini App

While Google Gemini has long been available on Android devices for quite some time now (not to mention via web), it’s been notably absent from iPhones despite Google’s promises of bringing it over earlier on. That all changes now following the release of the Google Gemini app for iOS devices.

The app is mostly the same with the Android version, although there are some differences, if subtle. For one, Gemini lacks the ability to access or change apps or settings on an iPhone, unlike Siri. Given Apple’s push to add some AI smarts to its digital assistant software, this is somewhat understandable.

There are exceptions though, as Assistant will be able to tap into apps like Gmail, YouTube, and other Google-branded apps. iOS users also gain direct access to Gemini Live, which includes support for real-time voice chat.

For the past couple of years, AI models and apps have been the go-to market trend that a lot of brands and manufacturers have been pushing as selling points. With that said however, it took Apple some time to catch up, and even its newest phones didn’t launch with AI features onboard.
