While Samsung has long stood behind its Exynos chipsets, fans and critics alike have noted that there’s somewhat of a gap in quality when the company’s chipsets are pitted against rival products from Qualcomm, for example. It doesn’t help that Samsung has reportedly struggled with yields of its upcoming Exynos chips, although that might change soon.
Reports now indicate that the South Korean tech giant is considering outsourcing Exynos production to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC). This is according to an online leak, which has since been “confirmed” by a former Qualcomm employee, although it should be noted that manufacturing aside, the chip’s design and architecture will still be decided by Samsung.
Of course, this is all “unofficial” at the moment, at least until either company confirms it themselves.

With that in mind, Samsung isn’t the only brand that’s been linked to TSMC – Google is also expected to move the production of its Tensor chips from Samsung to TSMC, which has now driven many predictions regarding improvements to the Tensor’s overall performance. This change is expected to happen as early as next year, with the launch of the Pixel 10 series phones.
