Android and iOS are two very different mobile operating systems. As such, they aren’t always compatible with each other. However, it seems that Xiaomi is hoping to bridge that gap with their brand new HyperConnect feature.
This new feature was revealed on X by Xiaomi CEO and founder, Lei Jun. According to the CEO, the goal of HyperConnect is to allow users to quickly share files with other users, which includes iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. Assuming it works as intended, it looks pretty seamless as users can share files with a single click.
Before you get too excited, one thing to note is that HyperConnect is only available in HyperOS 2 for China. We’re not sure when the global rollout will begin, but we imagine that it should arrive eventually.
That being said, there are a multitude of ways Android users can share files with iOS and macOS users. There’s always the ability to send files over instant messenger services, as well as using cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and more. However, a more direct approach like HyperConnect would be a lot more convenient.
Hopefully this is a trend that we can expect to see from other Android handset makers in the future.
