More often than not, when companies design their smartphones, they don’t always seek feedback from the public, let alone allow the public to have an input in the design process. Nothing has definitely broken the mold with its latest smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition.
The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus isn’t a new phone per se, but the Community Edition is. It is basically a variant of the original phone, except that the design of the phone was done in collaboration with the Nothing community. For starters, the hardware of the phone was designed by Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki. It also features wallpapers designed by Andres_123, packaging by Ian Simmonds, and a marketing campaign by Palmix Art.
The end result is a variant of the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus that has a glow-in-the-dark glyph pattern on the back and a bunch of new custom wallpapers. The hardware itself remains the same, but the overall concept is pretty cool. Like we said, it’s rare that smartphone makers like Apple or Samsung actually actively take feedback or input from its community, so it’s nice to see that Nothing is trying something different.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition, it is limited to 1,000 units worldwide, except for the US, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, and Korea and is priced starting at £399.
