How to reset the iPhone 16 Plus

In an ideal world, our devices would work without any issue. But that is often not the case. In fact, every now and then, our devices run into issues. There are all sorts of reasons that can cause this. Sometimes it can be fixed with a software patch, but sometimes it needs a little extra attention. If you have the iPhone 16 Plus and have run into issues, then maybe a reset is what the doctor ordered.

In this guide, we’ll show you a couple of ways to reset your iPhone 16 Plus. One of which is a soft reset, basically a reboot. The other is a factory reset. This is typically reserved for situations where it’s bad enough where you need to basically wipe your phone and start from new. Either way, the steps are really simple so let’s go.

Force restart iPhone 16 Plus

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button
  3. Press and hold the side button
  4. Hold the side button until the Apple logo appears
  5. Once the logo appears, release the side button and wait for the phone to restart itself

This should help deal with issues where the iPhone 16 Plus has frozen up and turning it off the regular way isn’t working and if the touchscreen has stopped responding. If the issue persists even after restarting the phone, then you might need to look into performing a factory reset.

Factory reset iPhone 16 Plus

  1. Go to the iPhone 16 Plus’s Settings app
  2. Tap on General > Transfer or Reset
  3. Tap on “Erase all contents and settings”
  4. Tap on “Continue”
  5. You might be asked to enter your Apple ID and password as a means of authentication
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen
  7. Depending on how much data is stored on your iPhone, the factory reset process could take several minutes
  8. Once it’s done, all the data on your iPhone 16 Plus should be erased and it will look like it’s brand new from the day you bought it

Keep in mind that factory resetting your smartphone is generally irreversible. This means that all the data on your phone will be erased for good. Factory resetting is usually seen as a last measure when all else fails, or if you need to wipe it before giving it away or selling it to someone. You’ll also want to make sure that your phone is backed up first in case there are things on there that you don’t want to lose during the resetting process.
