Apple Intelligence could debut later this month
Apple made quite a fuss over Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024 earlier this year. But with the release of iOS 18 and the new iPhone 16 series, the AI has yet to make its debut. Now according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple Intelligence is expected to make its debut on the 28th of October.
This is expected to be part of the iOS 18.1 update, and the 28th of October is also a Monday which is when Apple typically chooses to release software updates for its platforms. Keep in mind that this release won’t be the full suite of Apple Intelligence features. Apple did mention previously that Apple Intelligence would debut in phases.
This means that the initial rollout of Apple Intelligence could be somewhat limited and won’t include all the AI features that Apple has shown so far. It is expected that the company will release Apple Intelligence through the end of 2024 and into 2025. It is an odd strategy but perhaps Apple has learned from past failed releases that it’s better to delay the rollout than to push out something that isn’t fully completed.
The launch of Apple Intelligence will see Apple directly compete against the likes of Google Gemini and Samsung Galaxy AI. Apple has also teamed up with OpenAI to include support for ChatGPT for AI inquiries that are a bit more complex.
