MediaTek Might Have What it Takes to Surpass the iPhone 16 Pro’s Performance

The introduction of MediaTek’s Dimensity-series chips a couple of years back has certainly fared well for the brand, allowing it to compete with high-end products from rivals like Qualcomm. With that in mind, the company’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 SoC (set to arrive  next month) is expected by many to be one of the most powerful mobile chipsets yet, and new benchmarks show promising results.

In fact, in terms of raw power it’s predicted that the 9400 might even be able to surpass Apple’s latest A18 Pro chipset – which is used in the iPhone 16 Pro models – courtesy of the Immortalis-G925 graphics unit onboard, which is developed by Arm. Benchmark numbers indicate that the GPU was able to score 134 fps in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulkan benchmark test. By comparison, the A18 Pro scored a maximum of 72 points.

For those unfamiliar with the test, the Aztec test is developed to simulate graphics-heavy 3D games on mobile devices, and see how far a device can go when it comes to rendering visuals and general performance. Of course, it should be noted that the test is of course run in a controlled environment, and other elements such as which phone brand, software and other components that the Dimensity 9400 is used with will factor into the overall experience for end users.
