The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Wants to Take on GoPro’s Lineup

The eternal battle between which action camera brand has once again lit up with the arrival of the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. Unveiled just recently, the Osmo Action 5 Pro comes packed with several features that should prove useful for folks after a capable camera to take on the go, and those who might be looking for an alternative option from a reliable brand as well.

Of course the highlight of the Osmo Action 5 Pro is its camera – inside you’ll find a 1/1.3 inch sensor with 2.4 μm pixel size, which works in both standard and low-light situations thanks to its “SuperNight Mode” that comes with noise reduction features (it can even shoot 4K video in 60fps for low-light situations). There’s also built-in subject centering and tracking, which work via AI-based software.

For media storage, the Osmo Action 5 Pro comes with 47GB of storage, and there’s support for wireless file transfers 80MB/s using Wi-Fi 6, and users can livestream directly from the camera via Wi-Fi as well. Other hardware details include a 1,950 mAh battery with up to four hours of continuous usage, 3oW charging speeds, OLED screen with up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, and water resistance of up to 20 meters (when caseless).

In terms of availability, you can get the Osmo Action 5 Pro in a standard bundle ($349) which includes the camera, a secondary battery, protective frame, adapter mount, adhesive base, lock screw, USB C to C PD cable, rubber lens protector, glass lens cover, and anti-slip pad. An Adventure Combo adds a few more accessories including a multi-purpose battery case and extension rod for $449.
