Phandroid’s Best Of IFA 2024 Winners: Here are our top picks!

Similar to CES, IFA is one of the biggest tech events that has been held every year. It allows companies to showcase their various products, both new and existing, while also demonstrating prototypes and unveiling concepts. It’s a very fun and exciting event with a ton of things to see. If you’re looking for some of the highlights of the event, here is a list of some of the best things we’ve encountered at IFA 2024 so far.

TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G

A lot of smartphone makers place heavy emphasis on how bright and beautiful their displays are. TCL has gone the opposite direction with its new NXTPAPER series of phones. These phones come with a “Max Ink Mode” that mimics the effect of e-ink, turning your phone’s display monochrome. This makes it easy on the eyes, while also extending battery life dramatically. TCL claims you can get up to 7 days of reading time with the mode enabled.

Honor Magic V3

The Honor Magic V3 is a sleek, foldable smartphone. It has a super-thin design, making it one of the lightest foldable phones around, and unfolds into a spacious 7.92-inch OLED display, perfect for multitasking or watching videos. With a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and up to 16GB RAM, it’s super fast, while the triple-camera setup (50MP main, 20MP telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide) takes pretty amazing photos. It also packs a  5,000mAh battery that should easily last a day.

TECNO MEGAMINI G1

TECNO is a company that some of you might know for smartphones. Geekom is a company that specializes in mini PCs. But both companies have come together and collaborated on a new mini gaming PC in the form of the TECNO MEGAMINI G1. Despite its size, the G1 features support for watercooling, something you might expect to find on larger PCs. It is also insanely powerful, with specs of up to an Intel Core i9 CPU and the use of NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 GPU. If you want a gaming PC that won’t take up too much room, this could be it.

Acer Nitro Blaze 7

Ever since the launch of Valve’s Steam Deck, we’re seeing more companies enter the handheld gaming space, so it didn’t come as a surprise when Acer announced its new Nitro Blaze 7. This handheld gaming device features a 7-inch display with a 1080p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS CPU with AMD Radeon 780M graphics and up to 2TB of storage and 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM.

Asus Zenbook S 14

With there being so many laptops to choose from, computer makers need to find ways to make their products stand out. With the Asus Zenbook S 14, the company uses what they are calling Ceraluminum. This is a material that effectively bonds ceramic to aluminum, creating a unique look and finish to the laptop. It’s not just pretty, though, the Zenbook S 14 is a powerhouse. It sports a 3K OLED touchscreen display, a 72Wh battery that is apparently rated for up to 27 hours, and it is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200V CPU.

Acer Project DualPlay concept

Gaming laptops are a dime a dozen in this day and age. But with the Acer Project DualPlay, the company has reimagined the computer. They have built-in a gaming controller where the trackpad is. This controller is detachable, meaning that if you want to game with a controller, you can instead of having to bring a separate device. The entire laptop is also designed to look very gamer-y with customizable 360-degree RGB lighting. Unfortunately, it is only a concept at the moment which means you won’t be able to buy it (for now).

HMD Fusion Modular Smartphone

HMD used to be known for helping keep the Nokia brand alive, but they have since moved on. The HMD Fusion is the company’s latest phone, and while it might not be a high-end flagship, it is a modular smartphone, something we haven’t seen in a while.

It features what HMD calls “Smart Outfits”, which are kind of like cases that you can attach to the phone for different functions and features. For example, there’s a case that introduces a built-in ring light for those who want better looking selfies. There’s also a Wireless Outfit that gives the phone wireless charging capabilities.

Anker MagGo charging station 3 in 1 foldable pad

If you own a smartphone, smartwatch, and a pair of wireless earbuds, bringing a bunch of chargers and cables out with you can be a pain. Anker’s new MagGo 3 in 1 foldable charging station will solve those issues. It is a Qi2-based wireless charging pad that can be folded, making it perfect for travel, while also being able to charge multiple devices at the same time.

Yaber K3/K3 Pro

At IFA 2024, Yaber rolled out its K3 series projectors, delivering great visuals and a super easy user experience. These projectors feature the use of advanced LED panels that go up to 1,600 lumens of brightness and can project a 1080p resolution. This makes them perfect for movie nights or presentations. The projectors also come with built-in speakers and screen mirroring, so you can easily stream from your phone or other devices. There is support for Bluetooth audio so you can connect them to wireless speakers.

Lenovo Aura Edition laptops

Lenovo’s Aura Edition laptops look like any other laptop, but don’t let its looks deceive you. The main star of the show would be its software features. This Aura software is developed by both Lenovo and Intel as part of a collaboration and includes different modes that lets users swap around for different tasks. For example, there are modes to improve video calls, create a distraction-free work environment, more secure internet browsing and more. They also come with smart AI features that help users transfer photos from their phones to the laptop quickly and easily.

DJI Neo

The DJI Neo is one of DJI’s smallest and most compact drones to date. It’s perfect for those who don’t want to deal with the hassle of FAA registrations. Despite its size, it can capture 4K video footage and 12MP stills. It can also be controlled without a remote, making it perfect to bring around and take flight whenever you need.
