0

Samsung recently announced that it will be teaming up with Qualcomm to integrate its new LPDDR4X memory for use with the latter’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis. The collaboration is intended to develop high-end in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and advanced driver systems (ADAS) for select vehicles.

Over the years, the expansion of built-in smart features into modern vehicles has been adopted by more and more auto manufacturers, and companies like Qualcomm have been smart enough to invest in such technologies in advance.

In addition to this, Samsung also announced that it is working on its next-generation automotive LPDDR5, with samples expected to be available within the fourth quarter of this year. The LPDDR5 will support up to 9.6 gigabits-per-second speeds even in extreme temperatures. Going back to the Qualcomm team-up, Samsung VP nd Head of the Automotive Group Hyunduk Cho comments:

With a broad automotive lineup of AEC-Q100-qualified DRAM and NAND products, Qualcomm Technologies is an ideal partner to work with for long-term customer solutions. Through Samsung’s leadership in design, manufacturing and packaging for memory solutions, our work with Qualcomm Technologies can help support rapid development cycles while ensuring reliability, verification and exceptional product control, which are essential for the automotive industry.
