Qualcomm has pretty much confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will launch later this year. But it seems that ahead of the chipset’s launch, the spec sheets of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 have leaked. This gives us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm.
In a report published on Smartprix, they have shared the spec sheets of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. According to the information, the chipset will be powered using Qualcomm’s Oryon CPUs. These are the same CPUs that are found in the Snapdragon X Elite chipsets used to power laptops. It will also use the Adreno 8-series of GPUs, and will rely on the Spectra Image Signal Processor 8-series to help with image processing for photos and videos. The chipset is also built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process.
The spec sheets don’t reveal the clock speeds of the chipset, but according to the rumors, it is expected to feature a 2+6 core configuration. This means that it will come with two performance cores rumored to be clocked at 4.0GHz, and six efficiency cores clocked at 2.8GHz. This will allow the chipset to switch between performance and efficiency depending on the task at hand.
So far, the rumors of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s performance seems mixed. Recent benchmarks suggest that it could be a beast. But other report claim that the improvements will be mostly on the GPU side. We are also hearing that the chipset could be more expensive. This could force some handset makers to seek more affordable alternatives.
