The Epic Games Store Arrives for Android and iOS

While Epic has had quite a bit of a situation with both Apple and Google, the company’s Games Store has nonetheless continued to make the leap for mobile devices. As such, Android users worldwide can now download the Epic Games Store, while iOS users in the EU will also be able to sideload the app on their phones.

In an official press release, Epic confirmed the launch of the app for mobile devices although it mentioned ongoing struggles with regulations set forth by both Apple and Google. Part of the announcement reads:

We’re launching on iOS devices in the European Union thanks to the Digital Markets Act, but Apple is still blocking all other iOS users outside of Europe from accessing Fortnite and Epic Games Store for iOS.

For now, the process of installing the Epic Games Store on iOS and Android is lengthy due to Apple and Google introducing intentionally poor-quality install experiences laden by multiple steps, confusing device settings, and scare screens. We are continuing to fight in courts and work with regulators around the globe to eliminate the anticompetitive terms that Apple and Google impose on developers and consumers, so we can build a better store for everyone.

In addition to the Epic Games Store itself, users will also have access to mobile titles such as Fortnite, Rocket League, as well as an all-new port of Fall Guys for mobile devices. Fornite was previously available on Android and iOS, although it was removed due to regulatory and legal disputes between Epic, Google and Apple.
