With Meta’s acquisition of WhatsApp a while back, it was only a matter of time before we’d see features from Facebook Messenger trickle down to WhatsApp, and it seems like an upcoming feature for the app shares a lot in common with its Facebook-powered counterpart.
More specifically, a new WhatsApp beta version for Android devices comes with support for chat themes, something which has been available on Facebook Messenger for quite some time now. The beta version comes with build number 2.24.17.19. As such, the feature lets users pick a chat theme that swaps the in-chat wallaper and message colors.

WhatsApp hasn’t made any “official” announcements about the upcoming feature, although some are predicting that it might be available for Android users by the end of the year. With all that said, users who want to try out WhatsApp beta features on Android will need to register for the beta program, although enrolment isn’t available to all users at all times.
