With that in mind, you might be looking forward to getting your hand on the Z Fold6, or maybe you’re in the process of getting to know your brand new foldable – whatever the case maybe, we’re here to help out. We’ve listed some useful tips and tricks that will no doubt be of great use for you Galaxy Z Fold 6 owners out there.

Check your Phone for Updates

Samsung promises buyers that it will provide several years’ worth of updates for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, which means that folks get the latest versions of Android, in addition to regular security updates. To check if your Z Fold6 is eligible for the latest update:

  • Go to Settings > Software update
  • Tap on Download and install
  • Follow the on-screen instructions

Change your Screen Refresh Rate

Like a lot of premium phones these days, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a high refresh rate that provides a fluid and slick user experience. Alternatively, you can also choose to disable this to save on battery. To adjust your phone’s refresh rate:

  • Open Settings > Display
  • Tap on Motion smoothness
  • Choose your preferred setting, and then tap Apply

Enable Drawing Assist

One of the more interesting new features on the Galaxy Z Fold6 is the inclusion of Drawing Assist, which helps turn your sketches into fleshed-out artwork with generative AI. It’s also easy to set-up if you want to try out the new feature.

  • Open Settings > Tap Galaxy AI > Tap Drawing assist
  • Set the toggle to On.

Enable One-Handed Mode

The highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is undoubtedly its large display, although there are times when it might be a bit too wide to use especially when you just want to quickly access your phone to send a quick text, check notifications, and such. This is where One-Handed Mode comes in handy.

  • Open Settings > Advanced Features
  • Tap on One-handed Mode
  • You can then toggle it on, and choose a preferred action to launch One-handed mode

Turn on Developer Options

One of Android’s biggest strengths is that it lets users tinker with stuff that’s under the hood, such as with the Developer Options feature. Enabling Developer Options allows users to access settings not found on the main settings menu, and tweak their phone even more to their liking.

  • Open Settings > About Phone
  • Tap on Software Information
  • Tap Build Number seven times
  • Enter your pattern, PIN or password to enable the Developer options menu

Create a Secure Folder

A Secure Folder allows users to store sensitive information, apps and media that they want to keep private. It also supports passcode or pattern options, making sure that you’re the only one with access to what’s within the folder. To set it up:

  • Open Settings > Biometrics and Security
  • Tap on Secure Folder
  • You’ll then need to sign into a Samsung Account
  • Approve the permissions for secure folder
  • Choose a lock method to use and confirm
  • The folder will then be set up for you to use

Perform a Soft Reset

There are times when the Z Fold 6 might suffer from a minor hiccup or performance issue, in which case a soft reset (restart) might be the best way to go about things. To do this:

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to access the Quick Settings menu
  • Tap on the Power Button
  • Tap Power Off
  • Alternatively, you can also tap on Restart to automatically restart your device.

Perform a Factory Reset

As opposed to a Soft Reset, a Factory reset (aka Hard Reset) erases everything on your phone and brings it back to an (almost) brand-new state, devoid of anything but the pre-installed software inside. This is ideal if you want to start anew with your device, or if you need to send it in for repairs or sell it; we also recommend backing up your data first.

  • Open Settings > General Management
  • Tap on Reset > Factory Data Reset
  • Tap on the final reset prompt to erase everything on your phone

Activate Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi Calling allows users to make and receive calls (and send texts) using a Wi-Fi connection when their mobile network signal isn’t available. There are some pre-requisites though – your phone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network and have an active SIM card inserted, and Wi-Fi calling must be enabled by your network provider. To activate it:

  • Open Phone App > More Settings (three dots on the corner)
  • Tap on Settings
  • Turn on the toggle for Wi-Fi Calling

Enable Power Saving Mode

There are times when you’re just caught in a time and/or place without access to a charger, in which case you might want to activate Power Saving Mode to cut down on your phone’s battery consumption until your next top-up. To activate this feature:

  • Open Settings > Battery and device care
  • Tap on Battery
  • Turn on the toggle for Power Saving to enable the feature
