Samsung broke from tradition last year with the Galaxy S23 series where they went all-in with Qualcomm’s chipsets. This year saw the return of the mix of Qualcomm and Exynos chipsets, and we expect that to continue in 2025. This is thanks to the latest Samsung earnings call where the Exynos 2500 chipset was confirmed.
According to the rumors, the Exynos 2500 is said to be used in the Galaxy S25 series next year. The existence of the chipset seems to confirm it since Samsung’s Exynos chipsets are rarely used outside of their own phones and tablets. This could be bad news for those who were hoping that the rumors of Qualcomm-powered Galaxy S25 phones were true.
Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have gotten a bad rap over the years due to them being less powerful compared to Qualcomm’s offerings. Those living in regions like the US don’t have to worry. But those in other regions who typically get the Exynos variant are understandably upset. Imagine paying the same price for a phone but getting “worse” (on paper) performance.
The rumors surrounding the Galaxy S25 series are kind of all over the place. We have heard that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset could be quite expensive. This could lead to the company seeking alternatives. Either by going all-in with the Samsung Exynos 2500, or turning to other chipsets like MediaTek.
