Earlier this year, Nothing announced the Nothing Phone (2a). This is basically a more affordable variant of the Nothing Phone (2). The company later confirmed that a Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is in the works and due for an announcement on the 31st of July, and sure enough they have delivered.
The biggest changes Nothing has made to the phone over the non-Plus model is the chipset. The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G. This is a chipset that is currently exclusive to the company. They also claim that it is nearly 10% faster in terms of CPU performance, and 30% faster in GPU over the Nothing Phone (2a). The handset is also accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
In terms of design, it shares similarities with the Phone (2a). The main difference is that it now sports a metallic finish. In fact, there are two metallic options for users to choose from. We’re kind of digging the new look as it makes it look more premium.
In addition to the upgrade in chipset, the handset also comes with improvements to the cameras. The front-facing camera has been increased from 32MP to 50MP, and there are also software improvements where it will be better at enhancing facial features like the eyes and facial hair of subjects.
Last but not least, there is an improvement in charging speeds, going from 45W to 50W. The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus will be available for purchase in the US on the 7th of August through the Nothing beta program. The handset is priced at $399.
