Apple wants you to unlock your iPhone using your heart

When it comes to unlocking your iPhone, Apple offers users a couple of different ways. There is the passcode, Touch ID, and Face ID. But it seems that Apple could be exploring alternative means to unlock your iPhone. This is according to a recently discovered patent.

According to the patent, it seems that Apple is looking into the possibility of unlocking an iPhone using the user’s heart rhythm. This will be achieved if the user has an Apple Watch which has the ability to measure the wearer’s heart rate. This means that as long as you wear the Apple Watch, you can unlock the iPhone without having to scan your face, fingerprint, or enter a passcode.

This is a much faster system, although it will require an Apple Watch. In a way, it’s also kind of clever. It could potentially encourage iPhone users to buy an Apple Watch for the added convenience. At the moment, Apple actually allows Apple Watch users to unlock their iPhones with the smartwatch.

However, there is a difference. The method outlined in this patent will use the person’s heart rhythm as a way of identifying and authenticating them. It’s a novel idea, but whether or not it will manifest itself in future updates remains to be seen.
