The OnePlus Open was originally launched back in 2023 and it was one of our favorite foldable phones to date. Now according to a post on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, specs of the OnePlus Open 2 have leaked. Assuming it’s true, this could easily make the handset our next favorite foldable phone again.
According to the post, it claims that Oppo and Vivo are working on new foldable phones for 2025. One of the changes we can expect is a larger 6,000mAh battery. But what has this got to do with OnePlus? Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus share the same parent company, BBK. The OnePlus Open is actually a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3.
This suggests that OnePlus’ next foldable phone could be based on the foldables made by Oppo and Vivo. It also means that the battery upgrade coming to these phones could easily make its way to the OnePlus Open 2. For context, the original OnePlus Open came with a 4,805mAh battery, so this will be quite an upgrade.
OnePlus recently held an event that launched a new tablet, new wearables, and new accessories. No phones were announced then. This is in line with the rumors that suggest that the OnePlus Open 2 could launch in 2025 instead of 2024. Honestly, we’re not sure if there’s really a need to refresh phones on an annual basis so waiting an extra year isn’t too bad.
