pixel 9 teaser

More Pixel 9 Pro specs leak ahead of official announcement

The Google Pixel 9 series will be coming soon. We already kind of expect that the phone will come with a new Tensor G4 chipset, that much is a given. But now thanks to a post on the XDA forums, additional specs of the Pixel 9 Pro have leaked.

Assuming this post is accurate, the specs of the Pixel 9 Pro have been revealed to come with 16GB of RAM. For context, its predecessor, the Pixel 8 Pro came with 12GB of RAM. We’re not sure if this 16GB of RAM is for a higher tier of the Pixel 9 Pro, or if it will be the new base amount of RAM for the phone.

Also, we’re not sure if this increase in RAM is only for the Pro series or if the non-Pro models will receive a similar upgrade. The leak also reveals the modem that the phone will be using. Apparently Google will be upgrading the modem to the Samsung Exynos 5400 modem.

This is a newer version compared to the Exynos 5300 that was used in the previous Pixel Pro model. According to Samsung, the new modem is based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard. It will offer a max data throughput of 14.79Gbps. Chances are we’ll never hit those speeds, but it’s nice to have that extra headroom.
