Spotify recently announced that it was expanding its AI DJ beta feature for Spanish-speaking Spotify users worldwide. The feature will be made available for Premium subscribers in markets where the standard DJ feature is currently available, including Spain and select markets in Latin America such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The AI DJ was first launched in English last year, and provided listeners with a new way to discover music on Spotify, acting as a personalized AI guide that curates music based on user preferences, in addition to an AI voice.
According to Spotify, listeners who are provided with a bit of insight regarding music recommendations are more inclined to return to tracks that they might have passed on.
Since the debut of the AI DJ, we’ve learned the importance of context for our users. When listeners hear commentary alongside personal music recommendations, they’re more likely to listen to a song they may have otherwise skipped. Premium users love DJ. The median DJ listener spends more time listening to DJ than listeners of any other recommended set.
Spotify adds that it’s seen a 215% increase in social conversation around DJ in Spanish in the past few months, resulting in a decision to provide the DJ feature in Spanish.
