Samsung’s “Live Translate” Now Supports Major Voice-calling Apps

Following an announcement a month ago that it will expand its Live Translate feature to more third-party software, it looks like Samsung has gone forward with implementing its feature for more apps. Live Translate comes with One UI 6.1.1, and works with several apps including Facebook Messenger, Google Meet, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, and more.

For those unfamiliar, the feature works by translating supported languages in real-time – if you were to speak to someone over the phone and they were speaking in their respective language, your phone will be able to convert their voice into English for example. Live Translate is part of Samsung’s recently-introduced Galaxy AI software.

The feature can also be disabled manually in specific apps. Samsung says that user data remains private, as all the translation work is done on-device.

In terms of availability, Live Translate works on several devices including the Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and 5, as well as the Galaxy S8 and S9 series tablets.
