Is the new OnePlus Pad 2 the Android tablet to beat?

At the OnePlus Summer Launch Event today, the company has officially announced the OnePlus Pad 2. This is the latest entry in the company’s tablet lineup and is the successor to the OnePlus Pad that was launched back in 2023. This is a powerful tablet, based on the specs, and we expect that it will probably go head to head with other Android tablets like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series.

Under the hood, the OnePlus Pad 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This is the same chipset used by the majority of the flagship phones in 2024, so expect killer performance. The tablet also features a 12.1-inch 3K display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

Unsurprisingly, OnePlus has included a bunch of AI software features into the tablet. This comes in the form of the AI Toolbox that has features like AI Speak, Recording Summary, AI Writer, AI Eraser 2.0, and Smart Cutout 2.0. All of these features are expected to improve the user experience and workflow for activities like editing photographs.

OnePlus is also imagining the tablet to be the perfect multimedia device, thanks to its six integrated stereo speakers. It also supports the OnePlus Stylo 2 and OnePlus Smart Keyboard accessories if you want to take handwritten or typed up notes or draw while on the go.

The tablet comes with a massive 9,150mAh battery that OnePlus claims has a standby time of up to 43 days! It also supports the company’s 67W SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology that fully recharges the tablet in just 81 minutes. If you want to take photos, the OnePlus Pad 2 has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie cam for video calls.

In terms of price, the tablet will retail starting at $549.99. This is somewhat in line with the rumors that suggested that it could be priced higher than its predecessor. It is available for purchase starting from the 30th of July.
