While it’s been on the market for quite some time now, the Analogue Pocket has provided a way for retro gaming enthusiasts to revisit their favourite Gameboy Games, thanks to slick-looking hardware which packs some impressive internals as well.
With that in mind, Analogue has announced an upcoming Aluminum Edition for the Analogue Pocket, which will now feature an all-metal chassis in lieu of its original plastic design. A limited-edition release, it will be available in Indigo, Natural (silver), Noir (dark grey), and Black.
Launched back in 2021, the Analogue Pocket features native hardware support for Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance Games, so there’s no emulation involved unlike on cheaper retro handhelds. Unlike the original Game Boy models though, it features more modern specs including a high-resolution backlit display, a sleeker look, and support for non-Nintendo handheld games as well.
It should be noted that this new version will also be more expensive than the original, and will be priced at $500 (versus the usual $219 asking price). Pre-orders for Analoge Pocket Aluminum Edition start at 8am PT / 11am ET on July 15.
