Samsung has recently confirmed that they will be hosting its next Galaxy Unpacked event on the 10th of July. While Samsung hasn’t explicitly mentioned what will be announced, it’s not hard to guess. The company still has several products they haven’t announced yet for 2024, so if you’re wondering what to expect from the Galaxy Unpacked event, here’s the rundown.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6
We imagine that the main focus of the event will be on Samsung’s new foldables – the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. These will be the latest entries in Samsung’s foldable lineup.
In terms of hardware, we’re hearing that they will be exclusively powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Unlike the Galaxy S24 series, there won’t be an Exynos variant. Samsung is also rumored to be making changes to the design of the phones, making the edges a bit flatter compared to before.
As for size, both phones are expected to maintain their sizes. However, there was a worrying rumor from last week that suggests that the external display of the Flip 6 could be downgraded from AMOLED to LCD. We’re hoping that isn’t true, especially with rumors of a possible price increase, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Galaxy Watch Ultra
Another interesting device that Samsung could announce at the event is the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung typically refreshes its smartwatch lineup every year, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra is particularly exciting as this marks the launch of a brand new model.
The naming scheme and leaked specs suggests that it could go head to head with the Apple Watch. It will feature a brand new design that is unlike anything we’ve seen from Samsung. That’s a good thing if you’re getting a bit bored of Samsung’s smartwatch designs. The only downside is that it could be quite expensive with a rumored price tag of $700.
Galaxy Watch 7
If you don’t really see the need for the Galaxy Watch Ultra, don’t worry, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Watch 7 series as well. We don’t expect it to be a huge change from its predecessor. It will run new hardware, obviously. The rumors are suggesting the use of a 3nm chipset and a BioActiveSensor2 for heart rate and sleep monitoring.
Other than that, it should be more or less the same as the Galaxy Watch 6 series. It’s not a bad thing, but if you already own the Galaxy Watch 6 or Galaxy Watch 5, it might not be a particularly compelling upgrade. Maybe Samsung will surprise us but for now, it doesn’t seem like a very exciting update to the series.
Galaxy Buds 3
At the Galaxy Unpacked event, we expect that Samsung will introduce an update to its true wireless earbuds in the form of the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. Leaked renders have suggested quite a major design change from the previous models.
The older Galaxy Buds models utilized a bean-shaped design which made it small and compact. Thanks to leaked renders, it suggests that the Galaxy Bud 3 could undergo a design change and feature a stem-like design, similar to the Apple AirPods. It will also apparently get a new charging/carrying case to accommodate the new stem.
Details are scarce as to what kind of hardware or software changes there will be to the new Galaxy Buds 3, so we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves.
Galaxy Ring
Last but not least, we expect Samsung to share more details about the Galaxy Ring. The company confirmed the existence of the wearable earlier this year and later shared more details, but we expect that the Galaxy Unpacked event will have additional information like pricing and availability.
